Find out more about Sam and Ash, and their roles, with our Q&A below!

What does a typical day look like for you?

Sam: There is no typical day for us at The Country House. Working within Rocky Bay’s guest houses means that every day is different depending on who is staying with us. We are all about the customer choice and what activity and routine they want to follow during their stay. We might be doing craft and baking one day, and then Outback Splash and mazes the next!

Ash: We ‘go with the flow’ based on customer choices. Everyone is unique in their routines and daily activities, so our typical day is based on how customers choose to spend their day.

Tell us more about your experience in the health and community sector?

Sam: I have worked with Rocky Bay’s guest houses for almost six years. Before that I worked in aged care and children’s hospice.

Ash: I’ve worked with guest houses at Rocky Bay for almost five years, and this was my first job within the disability sector.

Why should people choose to stay at The Country House for respite?

Sam: The Country House has a happy, fun and outgoing group of staff which is reflected in our environment. We are very focused on customer choice and ensuring everyone has the best stay possible.

Ash: It’s fantastic! We have an amazing team who go out of their way to make everyone’s stay is as enjoyable as possible, whilst meeting their needs and giving them the opportunity to make autonomous choices.

What do you love most about your role?

Sam: I love that every day is different. I get to meet and spend time with different guests each week and join them in a range of fun activities.

Ash: I love working with a wide range of both guests and staff – it makes every day different and diverse. We get to participate in fun and unique activities.

What do you love to do in your free time?

Sam: I enjoy anything that involves socialising and spending time with my family and friends.

Ash: I love going to the beach, spending time with friends and family.

What are three things you can’t live without and why?

Sam:

  1. My kids, they’re my whole world and bring me happiness
  2. My friends, because they are my support network
  3. A glass of wine after work, because why not!

Ash:
