Meet Catherine, Rocky Bay’s Program Development Coordinator for our Community team.

Catherine’s first experience of Rocky Bay was as a new graduate Physiotherapist in 2004. After a rewarding career as a physiotherapist in the community, Catherine eventually returned to Rocky Bay two years ago, initially based in our Therapy Services division. In late 2020, Catherine then joined our Community team where she helps to evolve programs and activities for our Community customers.

Get to know Catherine a little better with our below Q&A!

MEET CATHERINE

How long have you been working in your field?

I worked with people living with disability in the community as a physiotherapist for five years, then changed direction and started to work more directly with those working in the caring and health industry. I supported them to manage their stress, address challenges such as compassion fatigue and strengthen well being.

As part of this, I collaborated with many organisations, and developed and facilitated a large number of programs, workshops, seminars, events and retreats over the following decade.

Describe a typical day in your role?

I am eight weeks into this new role for the Community division of Rocky Bay! I have dived into getting to know the division, the incredibly inspiring staff and customers, and understand what is happening in our local community.

I have also had the honour of getting to know what some of the other wonderful organisations in our sector are offering, and how they are able to provide great programs within the NDIS guidelines.  I am excited to now be putting all this amazing data together and working with the team to offer recommendations and possibilities for Rocky Bay’s next steps.

My desire is to really support the positive evolution of the programs, activities and events offerings in Community, and the infrastructure required to do that.

What do you love most about your role?

I love getting to know people and their story. I love contributing to a shared vision for providing high quality, exciting and meaningful services.

I love to nut out processes and strive to implement ones that will actually work, and that allow projects to come to fruition. I get to do all of this in my role.

What do you love to do in your free time?

I make chocolate – @reverencechocolate. I love cooking and exploring new tastes and recipes from around the world.

I love travelling and adventures. I love music, singing, playing board games, graphic design, running events with my wonderful partner, reading and meditation.

I love genuineness and deep conversation.

What are three things you can’t live without and why?

  1. My partner (he is the best!) and my close friends
  2. Cacao (the source of all chocolate) – it is in every cell of my being
  3. Hot showers and sleep, it makes a happy Catherine
