Neil and Jason
Neil recently experienced his very first trip without his family, flying into Balinese paradise with housemate Jason.
The duo, supported by Rocky Bay Support Workers Kim Meagher and Daniela Janusevski, enjoyed the luxurious surrounds of WAHA Villa Uluwatu for five unforgettable days.

Neil, who moved into Rocky Bay’s supported accommodation in Eden Hill at the end of 2024, still exudes excitement when asked how he enjoyed his experience. ‘He’s still talking about it’, says Team Leader Carol O’Brien. ‘The minute they landed and got off the plane Neil kept saying “Bali, I love it!”’.
Jason is seasoned traveller, having enjoyed many a holiday within Australia and internationally with family. He experienced his first Rocky Bay supported holiday in 2023 – also to Bali – which was a first for any Rocky Bay supported accommodation house; so Neil had a fantastic guide in Jason for his first solo experience!
The duo visited Uluwatu Temple, Melasti Beach on the Bukit Peninsula and Kuta Beach. They experienced the glitz and glam of drag queen show, dined out at restaurants, and took some time to relax and unwind with daily massages and a swim in the pool at their tropical villa.
How we helped
Daniela described the experience as amazing, starting from researching and planning over many months, to supporting Neil and Jason in their chosen activities.
‘We wanted to make it extra special for them both. It was very different from our everyday routine…being in a foreign country, our main priority was to make sure our customers are safe but also that they had fun every moment of their holiday. It was an experience none of us will ever forget.’
‘We had an amazing five days supporting Neil land Jason in Bali,’ adds Kim. ‘It was great to see the guys engaged, having fun and enjoying something truly difference from their usual routine.’
Carol said the team provided exception support throughout the travel experience, ensuring both Neil and Jason felt safe and confident.
‘They assisted with airport check-in and villa check-in, and engaged Neil and Jason in planning their own activities and dining experiences. It was very person-centred support.’
Neil and Jason’s intrepid adventures won’t end here! Neil wants to visit Las Vegas or Liverpool to watch a football game. Whilst Jason is more than happy to return to Bali and is also very intrigued by Thailand. We look forward to seeing what’s to come for the housemates, and our team are excited to support more customers to see the world and live their best life!
