Mental Health First Aid

About the course

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Like physical first aid, mental health first aid is given until the person receives professional help or until the crisis resolves.

Rocky Bay offers a twelve hour MHFA course to people eighteen years and over. This course teaches how to provide initial support to adults in need, using strategies and evidence based methods developed by
MHFA and delivered by accredited MHFA instructors.

Length: 12 hrs (over two non-consecutive days)

Need a refresher?

Refresh your mental health first aid skills to support friends, family members, colleagues and others.

This refresher course allows people who have completed a 12-hour Standard Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course to improve their knowledge and skills. For Accredited MHFAiders, this course offers an opportunity to extend their accreditation for a further 3 years.

This course will help:
• Gain an understanding of the latest research in the mental health field
• Learn the 3 key actions for helping someone feeling suicidal
• Work through complex mental health first aid interactions
• Practice mental health first aid skills

This is a 4-hour educational course, not a therapy or support group.

Cost: $130 per person, which includes the latest manual edition.

Please note! Rocky Bay also offer an online version of the MHFA course. This includes five to seven hours eLearning which must be completed before attending a Zoom session. The sessions are broken down into two 2.5 hour Zoom sessions at least one day apart from each other.
