The smiles make my job so rewarding – Caitee

My name is Caitee. Since 2010 I have been a Disability Support Worker in the Community Living Department, mainly based at Rocky Bay’s respite homes.

I see my position as an opportunity to give our wonderful clients a holiday, to go out and interact with the community and do fun things.

One of our main aims as Disability Support Workers is to give our clients options and chances to do activities we may take for granted. It is the client’s choice what we get up to, meaning everyday is different. Some of the outings I have experienced range from a visit to the zoo, champagne breakfasts in bed and weekend trips away down south.

The most important thing to me as a Disability Support Worker is seeing clients smile, to be enjoying life and accepting their disability knowing they still have the chance to do things we can do. I would highly recommend working as a Disability Support Worker as it such a rewarding and worthwhile career.
