Rottnest revelry – September adventures

Rottnest trips are held several times throughout the year in the Getabout programme and September 2013’s trip lived up to everyone’s expectations.

Rough seas did not deter the six Getabout Members and six Support Workers from heading off on the adventurous weekend.

Luckily, for at least one traveller, the crew handed out those paper bags, but what happens on trips stays on the trip so this person will remain anonymous….!

Arriving Friday lunchtime and feasting on sandwiches for lunch everyone settled into the cottages. It was a weekend of sport with Saturday spent cheering on runners competing in the Inaugural Race Around Rotto. Ivo especially enjoyed high-fiving them as they went past! Snooze time followed before Prelim Finals watching. Everyone got together for the second half to cheer on Fremantle – a great result! Meals are always spectacular at Rottnest with Dinner on Friday at the pub – “very fancy” quoted Debra and Saturday night was delicious lasagna and fancy ice-cream in at the houses as everyone had had such a huge day.

Sunday morning everyone was up early and packed – to the news they might be stranded due to rough seas again.

No one seemed to be phased by this news, as an extra night on Rottnest iisland is a bonus when you’re all having fun.

Unfortunately for everyone the boat ran and the wonderful adventure was over, until next time…..
