On a lovely sunny September day in 2013, Getabout member, Nathan, had a huge dream fulfilled. After five months of negotiations and organisation he along with Getabout staff, went to collect his brand new SLR CAMERA!
Nathan discovered photography through his support worker. He wishes to use photography to communicate and express his artistic ideas but up to now has relied on others to take the photos for him. Nathan required a camera that could be fitted to his wheelchair and also can be connected to his ipad, which he uses to communicate, so he can take his own photographs.
This was made possible after Getabout staff negotiated with Dreamfit who provided a grant through the National Disability Services. Camera House allowed Nathan to test the camera and find the model that, when mounted on his chair, he can point, focus and shoot the photos himself.
Thanks to the generosity of Dreamfit, Camera House and the dedication of Getabout staff, Nathan can pursue photography to his full potential.
