Charlie’s little red car

Charlie is a four year old boy with congenital muscular dystrophy, a progressive condition which results in muscle weakness and reduced function.

Charlie’s parents are committed to ensuring their son lives a life full of adventure and fun, with dad building him a little red car to get around in.

Externally the car looks like a kids ride on toy, but internally, this is a conventional powered wheelchair with a joystick to control direction and speed. Being both red and fast, it has a lot in common with other high performance full size sports cars.

Rocky Bay’s specialist equipment service, Posture Tech, came on board to help customise the seating in Charlie’s car, creating support, improving posture and allowing Charlie to operate the car with little or no assistance from the adults around him.

Visit the Posture Tech homepage for more information on this service.
