Charlie’s chariot – A Wishing Tree story

Charlie is a two year old boy with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, a condition which results in muscle weakness and possible joint deformities. He has not reached developmental milestones and currently requires support to sit upright.

Charlie enjoys going outdoors, and his parents are both keen bike riders who wanted to give him every opportunity to join them. Charlie is unable to use a regular bike seat so his parents approached Rocky Bay to seek assistance to fund a specialised bike trailer.

After an extensive search and subsequent trials a suitable ride was found in the ‘Chariot Cruiser’ which was purchased for Charlie via a grant from the Wishing Tree. The device provides smooth suspension and lateral support for greater comfort and stability, while the hammock-like design allows Charlie to sit in recline which enables him to look around and watch what is happening.

Charlie’s chariot allows him to safely and comfortably accompany his parents on biking, jogging and walking activities.
