Meet Rocky Bay’s Fitness Officer, Kris
Rocky Bay’s Fitness Officer, Kris Ingham, is passionate about health and wellness so we asked him about his role helping people living with disability.
“For over seven years, I’ve enjoyed assisting people to achieve their health and lifestyle goals at Rocky Bay, with particular focus on improving or maintaining their fitness, strength and healthy weight.
I provide resources, knowledge and support to people living with disability who want to become healthier and maintain a good quality of life. I also provide training to individuals and their support staff so that they can exercise independently, in consultation with their physiotherapist.”
Kris supports clients at our Mosman Park facilities which includes an all-ability gym and a hydrotherapy pool, both of which can aid flexibility, strength and cardiovascular health, helping people to achieve rehabilitation and weight loss goals.
At home and in the community
For many people, it’s more convenient to develop a home exercise program or find suitable gyms close to home.
Kris says “I help people all the way through the process. From locating a suitable gym, (and funding source if required) designing a program and training support staff, to carrying out a formal handover with the community Personal Trainer. Once they’re all set I check in on them every three months to make sure they are happy and to track their progress.”
Catherine goes from strength to strength
Living with a neuromuscular condition, Catherine was unable to carry her own shopping bags. Kris developed a fitness program, working with her own muscle strength which in turn improved her confidence. Mum Valerie said “Kris has been fantastic for us… he organised a Personal Trainer for Catherine who she saw once a week. Now her life is back on track and she has returned to work. I would highly recommend Kris, he’s a very warm person and we feel very comfortable around him.”
