Darryl has been interested in rally cars and racing for as long as he can remember.
“I always enjoyed watching the Bathurst races”, says Darryl “That’s probably where it started.” Far from watching the sport in the comfort of his home, Darryl got to get out and experience firsthand what it’s like to be a passenger in a rally car thanks to Rocky Bay’s Wishing Tree.
Darryl traveled with his support worker Shaun to Dowerin for his rally adventure with Rally Action Driver Training. Whilst he was a bit nervous at first, Darryl says once he was strapped into his seat he was excited and ready to go. When asked what sort of speed they reached Darryl said he didn’t ask, “I didn’t even want to know, it felt very fast”, jokes Darryl, adding “It was a really good day, I finally achieved something I always wanted to.”
