Debbie is an avid photographer who has a passion for all things creative and prides
herself on capturing images of nature and sharing the photos in their untouched
beauty.

Debbie never fails to light up a room, with her warm personality and great sense of
humour.

Rocky Bay Behaviour Support Practitioner, Janine Wagner submitted the wish to assist Debbie with ease of access and her independence.

Saying her “glass half full” approach to life makes her so deserving of receiving this new device.

The Wishing Tree granted Debbie’s wish for a lighter device, with her new iPad.

The story continues...

Janine says, “after all of our conversations, she has always been an optimist, I saw her
struggling with the laptop and knew she would be so deserving of something smaller.”

Debbie has had her artwork displayed in the “Nothing About Us Without Us” exhibition,
where she hopes to use the iPad to capture some great photos for future exhibitions.
Debbie hopes that one day her photographs will be displayed as wallpaper in someone’s home.

Debbie now looks forward to studying a certificate IV in Mental Health, which will focus
on the support and needs of people experiencing mental health issues. She is very
excited to use her new device for her studies and to continue pursuing her hobbies.

How we helped

When asked about the impact The Wishing Tree has on Rocky Bay customers, Janine
says, “it’s nice to give people something to hope for, sometimes we don’t think about
how much an object or small change can impact their daily routines. Even the smallest
thing can make the biggest difference.”

Debbie was overwhelmed with emotion when she received the gift from The Wishing
Tree, saying “it’s my wish come true! Sometimes we don’t feel
deserving of big wishes like these.”

The iPad has given Debbie faster and easier access to research and provides her with
the opportunity to connect with her friends through video calls and attend
appointments online, advantageous for her health.
