There are three main types of enteral feeding tubes that are used based on a range of factors and individual needs. These include:
- Nasogastric (NG) tube – a short-term option passed through the nose into the stomach.
- Gastrostomy (PEG) tube – placed directly into the stomach for longer-term feeding.
- Jejunostomy (PEJ/J-tube) – placed into the small intestine if feeding into the stomach isn’t suitable.
A registered medical professional will advise on which option is best for each individual client.
