The Studio’s mural masters

The Studio is a hive of activity every Friday afternoon, with Malcolm, Karen, Carolyn, Hannah and Sandra, some of our Friday Art Group customers, busily working on their collaborative masterpiece – a wall mural destined for Rocky Bay’s new redevelopment at Mosman Park.

The group are exploring fire, water and air as the theme for the community project.

As part of the air theme for the collaborative mural, some of the group used different colour paint dripped onto paper, swirling it around by blowing through a straw. Once the piece is complete and the paint dry, it will be ironed flat and turned into a fan to place on the mural.

The Friday Art Group don’t always work on collaborative community projects. The artists were able to express themselves creatively with a recent individual project called ‘Faces’, where they created their own collages using different media.

“The Art Group gives everyone the opportunity to play using different techniques and mediums,” said Disability Support Worker, Ariel Katzir.

“It’s also about creative expression – this is a way for the group to express themselves in their way.”

Malcolm, Karen, Carolyn, Hannah and Sandra are still busily working on their mural masterpiece, and we can’t wait to see the finish piece of art displayed!
