Terry’s south-west adventure

Terry, a Rocky Bay supported accommodation customer, decided that after 20 years it was high time to take a holiday.

With the help of one of our incredible Disability Support Workers, Susan, Terry was supported to choose where he would like to visit and what activities he would like to do while there.

After much deliberation, he chose Busselton as his destination and booked accommodation at an accessible chalet near the beach so he could enjoy the beach and hear the ocean.

Day one of Terry’s road trip brought with it amazing weather. Supported by Sue throughout his holiday, Terry made his first stop at Miami Bakehouse to pick up lunch treats, which they enjoyed by the water while watching the bird life pass them by.

Heading straight to the famous Busselton Jetty that afternoon, Terry made a beeline for the jetty’s train.

“Terry was telling me that it is the longest jetty in the southern hemisphere, and that his parents would be very proud of him for taking the train ride up and down the jetty,” Sue said.

After a delicious dinner of burgers overlooking a stunning view of the ocean, the pair took a long walk with Terry chatting to passers-by.

Terry’s road trip also included an obligatory stop at the Margaret River Chocolate Factory to sample their wares and buy gifts, Dunsborough, Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, and Harvey on the way home.

Terry also made a special stop at the Wonky Windmill Farm in Yelverton where he had the opportunity to hand-feed the animals.

“Seeing Terry’s face light up, laughing and joking with the staff, asking questions. It was just wonderful.

“It was brilliant to holiday down south with Terry – he was wonderful company!”

Some of the team at Eden Hill have since created a photo book of Terry’s south-west road trip adventure for him to keep and framed some photos for his parents.

Terry has already started planning his next holiday to Mandurah in August to catch a Bee Gees tribute show. We can’t wait to see the adventures you get up to Terry!
