As featured on Today Tonight on Tuesday 11th October, Milo is the latest new technology being used by Rocky Bay in support of children living with social and communication difficulties.
Milo is a humanoid robot designed to teach social skills to children with autism. He has an autism specific curriculum that is interactive, engaging and fun. Sessions are facilitated by a qualified practitioner, such as a speech pathologist or occupational therapist, with skills and experience in working with children living with social and communication difficulties.
The Milo trial is a very exciting project and we are seeing excellent results so far. We are still in the pilot and research phase so access is currently limited. Our existing clients with social skills goals may be considered for Milo in the first instance – there is a selection process involved. In the longer term we would like to expand usage to more people.
If you would like to be considered for future Milo sessions, please provide your details as an expression of interest – this will also help us to gauge demand for the future. Provide your name, phone number, email address, your child’s name, age, primary diagnosis, current therapy provider (if applicable), postcode, funding received/plan details.
Milo is just one way our therapy and assistive technology team are looking for better ways to optimise the quality of life for people living with disability – would you like to find out about our other therapy services too?
