Koby Lee-Steere has enjoyed a fun-filled year since relocating from Geraldton one year ago to a Rocky Bay group home in Perth, to be closer to his family.
Tamara, Koby’s sister, approached Rocky Bay to assist with placing Koby, who lives with an intellectual disability, hearing impairment, tuberous sclerosis and communicates through limited facial expressions, into a group home that would be a perfect fit for him socially, while still supporting his living requirements.
Since his relocation to Perth, Rocky Bay has worked closely with Koby to develop a program and busy social schedule that has seen him absolutely flourish. His week includes dance movement classes, lunch and coffee catch ups with his family and regular hikes and swimming sessions amongst other community outings with his carers and fellow residents.
Koby is extremely happy in his new home, and his social life has sky-rocketed, attending many social events and holiday celebrations with his fellow housemates. And he’s made amazing progress toward his goal of losing weight with exercise and healthy eating.
Rocky Bay continues to work with Koby to make sure he receives appropriate supports and has the opportunity to explore his interests and hobbies to further develop a program that meets his goals.
