Connect with Mindful Movers

Rocky Bay’s Mindful Movers group is a collaboration between our Therapy Professional Services program and Curtin University’s School of Occupational Therapy. The pilot group aims to reduce anxiety in young teens and arm them with coping strategies by using a combination of movement and mindfulness strategies.

Group participants will be taught various technique through fun games and activities, including:

  • how to move their bodies using a variety of yoga sequences
  • breathing exercises for a calming effect
  • simple mindfulness techniques.

Dates:

Tuesdays from 13 October to 15 December 2018

Time: 4.00pm to 5.15pm

Location: Rocky Bay’s Patricia Kailis Centre, 13 Baling Street, Cockburn

Parents are required to return at 4.50pm to participate in a discussion with group leaders as part of the session. We also encourage parents to connect with other parents during the sessions, with the group providing a valuable opportunity to share stories and expand your support network.

Please note: Children and parents must be able to commit to attending 80% of the ten Mindful Movers sessions to be eligible to participate.
