Meet Sha-Leise, who is part of Rocky Bay’s team of After Hours Support Coordinators (AHSC).

Our team of AHSCs manage any urgent issues outside of usual office hours relating to customer needs, security, maintenance and fleet and staff rostering for unplanned leave such as sick leave. The team are also responsible for supporting and assisting night duty staff in our Respite Guest Houses and supported accommodation homes.

Get to know Sha-Leise and what her role involves with our Q&A.

How long have you worked with Rocky Bay?

I have worked for Rocky Bay for two years, the first year as a Disability Support Worker (DSW) and the second year as an After Hours Support Coordinator and DSW.

What does your role as After Hours Support Coordinator involve and what are you responsible for?

The AHSC role is a big responsibility – everything that happens after office hours falls in our hands. This can include replacing staff that may have called in sick, or working on the floor if the shift is unable to be covered.

The role can also include managing emergency accidents or incidents, or unwell customers. Maintenance issues may arise that need taking care of, providing general information and advice, or handling issues with our fleet. We often visit numerous sites across Rocky Bay’s various locations to support the team of night shift workers.

To work as an AHSC, you must have a vast amount of knowledge about all aspects of Rocky Bay.

What do you love most about your role?

It gives me great joy to help people and I love the flexibility in being able to move around Rocky Bay’s sites visiting the staff, customers and providing support where I can. Working in this industry is one of the most rewarding jobs out there.

What are three things you can’t live without and why?

  1. Happiness
  2. Kindness
  3. Positivity

All of these things contribute to a happy successful life.
