Meet Anne-Marie – the new General Manager of Community at Rocky Bay.
Anne-Marie joins our team with over 10 years’ experience working in community services, including aged care, and has built strong relationships across not-for-profit and government sectors. We’re very excited to have Anne-Marie join the team!
Get to know Anne-Marie and what her role involves a little more with our Q&A.
What does your role at Rocky Bay involve?
As General Manager of Community, I lead the division that spans the Perth metro and Mandurah areas in community supports and services. My teams deliver those services to customers either directly in the home or the community, depending on our customers’ preferences and needs.
We also have three respite Guest Houses that support customers and their families to enjoy a short or long-term break away from home.
It’s important that I’m looking at the new NDIS and finding out where the opportunities are for our customers, and listening to them in regards to new services they need or services that are emerging that we need to develop.
Tell us more about your experience?
I originally started my career in banking and finance in the 1980s and loved the interactions with people and helping them realise their dreams. I worked in that industry for 27 years and had the opportunity to travel the world and see how other cultures provide great service to their customers.
About 12 years ago I left banking after doing a lot of voluntary work in the not-for-profit sector helping to design customer service models. I was inspired to move into aged care and disability.
I worked at Silver Chain for 10 years in multiple roles, but mostly as the General Manager of their Social Care division across WA, before doing a six month contract at Baptistcare as their Chief Strategy Officer.
What do you love most about your job?
I feel so privileged to be working in the community and making a difference to people’s lives every day; people matter to me.
I’m really passionate about giving people choice and control in their decisions to lead the best life that they can, and creating ‘moments of truth’ that will ensure a great customer experience.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I am very connected to my family and love nothing better than spending time with my husband and extended family. Also the precious times I now get to share cuddles and laughs with my new granddaughter and grandson. I love seeing the world through their eyes as they grow and explore.
What are three things you can’t live without and why?
- My family – I can’t live without connecting to people
- I like watching and hearing people’s stories of their life journey – it gives me an appreciation that we are all different in our own way and together we contribute to a greater community, a lot like Rocky Bay!
- Chocolate – no ‘why’ needed!
