Meet Marnie – NDIS Support Coordinator

Mar 29, 2021

Meet Marnie Brown, Rocky Bay’s NDIS Support Coordinator based at our new hub in Geraldton.

Marnie has lived in Geraldton for the past four years, and is new to Rocky Bay as of February this year. She also has five years’ experience working in the disability and mental health sectors.

As a Support Coordinator, Marnie works with our customers to connect them to resources and information from disability support and mainstream organisations in their community, in order to give them the choice and control in the services they receive.

She supports customers to make the most of their plan by helping them work toward their goals, arms them with the tools needed to manage any issues with their service provision, and ensures they better understand how to participate in NDIA processes; this might include establishing an agreement with services providers, and setting and refining goals, objectives and strategies.

Get to know Marnie and her role with Rocky Bay a little more with our Q&A below!

Describe a typical day in your role at Rocky Bay?

A typical day starts with a big pot of caffeine!

I coordinate supports and services for NDIS participants. My role sees me communicating and collaborating with individuals, their families and other relevant stakeholders.

I also support participants with their plan review process and help them to best utilise their funding to achieve their goals and promote an improved quality of life.

What do you love most about your role?

I enjoy the process of identifying a participant’s needs and goals, assisting with facilitating appropriate supports and services, and then developing new goals for their future. I find it thrilling when things come together and the customer is happy and well supported.

What do you love to do in your free time?

I enjoy family time, walking my hounds on the beach and eating cheese, not necessarily all at once, but I may just try that!

What are three things you can’t live without and why?

  1. My Family – my purpose
  2. My Dogs Bella and Gigi. They are endlessly happy, affectionate and devoted, and don’t talk too much
  3. My Weekends – downtime is important to me
