Meet Mark Cox, Technical Officer in the Rocky Bay Equipment team.

You might know Mark if you have ever used our mobile equipment maintenance service! Mark has been with Rocky Bay for eight years, undertaking the critical role of servicing various pieces of equipment for our customers, and has built great relationships with many of our customers.

Get to know Mark and learn a little more about his important role at Rocky Bay with our Q&A below!

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day for me as a Rocky Bay mobile service technician is out on the road in the service van, providing service and support to our customers and various Rocky Bay hubs. This includes repairing and preventative maintenance of different types of disability equipment, like powered and manual wheelchairs, hoists, ceiling hoists, vehicle hoists, beds and ancillary equipment.

My service area reaches from below Pinjarra to above Yanchep, through to Roleystone and the Swan area.

Tell us more about your experience?

Having done a Mechanical Apprenticeship and then taken up electrical studies, I had a position in the UK repairing elevators for 20 years. Through this I gained experience of disabled access equipment such as step lifts, wheelchair elevators, stair lifts and hoists. This proved useful in my successful application to Rocky Bay, and I have worked here for the past eight years.

What do you love most about your role?

The thing I like most about my role is that every day is different. I love being out on the road dealing with the public and know many of my customers very well (and their pets!), we’re usually always pleased to see each other, and generally I have a bit of a chat and a catch up whilst working.

What do you love to do in your free time?

I like to go to the gym, windsurf, I play guitar and sing, and I love to go the beach with my dog, Bria.

What are three things you can’t live without and why?

  1. My dog. You just need to see her picture to understand why
  2. My guitar. I love music
  3. The gym and my social life – it’s like going to the pub to see your mates, but healthier
  4. Sour Cream & Onion crisps. I know that’s four things, but I am addicted to them!
