Ethan is our newest Physiotherapist based up in Geraldton and has been working as a physio for over 12 months now. He is currently working at Rocky Bay Geraldton part-time, having returned after studying in Perth. Ethan shares he wanted to become a physio because of the fulfilling, scientific and analytical sides of the job. He loves making a difference to people’s lives, whether that’s by reducing their pain or helping them achieve their movement or health related goals.

Read on to find out more about Ethan and his day-to-day life as a Physio living in Geraldton!

What does your role involve at Rocky Bay?

My role at Rocky Bay is working as a physiotherapist. This involves analyzing people’s impairments and designing treatment plans to address these issues based on their goals.

Describe a typical day?

A typical day at Rocky Bay for me starts at 8:30am where I will check my emails and look at my schedule for the day. Then I will spend some time preparing for my upcoming appointments. Throughout the day I will have several appointments and in between the appointments I will spend some time communicating to other health professionals and care coordinators to ensure the best care is being provided.

What have you been enjoying so far about working at Rocky Bay?

So far I have enjoyed meeting and working with great people and enjoying the opportunity to provide a great service to the community.

What do you love about working and living in Geraldton?

Geraldton is great because of its cruisy lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle. There are some great beaches around for days off and the climate in Geraldton is also nice.

How is it different from Perth?

  1. Peak hour doesn’t exist.
  2. Everything is a 10-minute drive away in Geraldton.
  3. Its less rainy in winter but a lot windier in summer.

What are three things you can’t live without and why?

  1. Surfing – That’s how I like to spend any free time I get.
  2. Exercise- If the surf is no good then some other exercise will take its place.
  3. Food – Food tastes good and its important fuel for the body.
