Hanen ‘Talkability’ Orientation Session

‘Talkability’ Orientation Session
An introduction to the Hanen program for parents

‘Talkability’ is a program designed for parents of high-functioning verbal children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or children with social communication difficulties. You will learn practical strategies to help your child develop ‘people skills’ by teaching them to ‘tune in’ to the feelings and thoughts of others. By helping your child see things from another person’s perspective, you’ll enable them to have successful conversations and social relationships with peers. You will also learn how to utilise your child’s unique strengths in everyday routines and activities.
‘Talkability’ is grounded in current research on how children develop their social skills, especially in the area of perspective-taking and empathy. The strategies developed have been shown to improve social communication abilities of high-functioning verbal children with ASD across the world.

Learn more about the Hanen program at an orientation session, which will enable you to decide if this program will suit your family.

Full Program
Program sessions commence on Wednesday 1st March 2017 and will run for several weeks. The ongoing day and time will be confirmed at the orientation session. The program will be run by
a Hanen Certified Speech Pathologist and is for parents and carers; children do not attend.
