As CEO of AWB Co, Vaughan Graham says the decision to support Rocky Bay’s Making Waves exhibition at Fringe World was an easy one. With a long-standing partnership built on shared values of inclusion, creativity, and community impact, Vaughan reflects on why this initiative resonated so strongly with AWB Co and how the collaboration has further strengthened their commitment to empowering people with disability.

What inspired your organisation to support Rocky Bay’s “Making Waves” exhibition at Fringe World this year?

Rocky Bay is a huge client of ours, and the work they do is genuinely inspiring. The support they provide to people with disability and the way they champion inclusion really resonates with us as an organisation.

Supporting the Making Waves exhibition felt like a natural extension of that relationship, they support us in our work, and we’re proud to support them in return. The values behind the exhibition strongly align with our own, particularly around resilience, creativity and giving people a platform to be seen and heard. Being part of something so meaningful at Fringe World was an easy decision for us.

Why do you believe it’s important to support artists with disability and inclusive art initiatives?

I believe it’s important to support artists with disability and inclusive art initiatives because it ensures diverse voices are seen, heard, and valued. Coming from a family of artists, I’ve seen firsthand the impact art can have and how powerful it is. For it to come from people who face additional challenges shows that anything is possible, and I think that is beautiful.

What has stood out to you about partnering with Rocky Bay on this project?

Their passion, dedication, and the tangible impact they make in the community. Their commitment to inclusion and creating opportunities for people to thrive really resonates with our team. We’ve also valued the collaborative nature of the partnership, it’s not just about the work we do together, but about building relationships, sharing ideas, and making a meaningful difference side by side.

How has this collaboration helped strengthen your organisation’s connection with the community?

This collaboration has strengthened AWB Co’s connection with the community by giving us the chance to step back from our day-to-day jobs and engage in meaningful ways. Building relationships, networking, and connecting with others is a huge part of what we do, and this partnership reinforces our commitment to inclusion, resilience, and giving back. AWB is proud to continue supporting the community in every way we can.

Why do you feel Fringe World is an important platform for showcasing inclusive and accessible art?

Fringe World is a popular and widely attended festival, attracting people of all ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds. Being part of this platform means that inclusive and accessible art can reach a truly diverse audience, giving artists the confidence to share their stories with everyone, not just a specific group.

How would you describe the experience you want visitors to take away from Making Waves?

I’d like everyone who visits Making Waves to leave feeling connected and reflective, with a sense of understanding, empathy, and appreciation for the diverse experiences it represents. I also want visitors to feel inspired, knowing that anything is possible and that nothing should stop them from pursuing what they want to achieve.

Do you see your organisation continuing to support initiatives that improve visibility and opportunities for people with disability?

Yes, AWB Co will absolutely continue supporting initiatives that increase visibility and create opportunities for people with disability. Fostering inclusion and ensuring everyone has the chance to be seen, heard, and fully involved is at the heart of who we are, reflecting some of our core values of people, diversity, and enthusiasm.

What hopes do you have for future collaborations with Rocky Bay?

We’d be proud to continue supporting Rocky Bay by contributing our expertise to create safe, functional, and welcoming spaces. We hope to keep working with them not only on our jobs and projects, but also in supporting their programs and initiatives in the community.
