We welcome this decision as it will provide clarity for people living with disability, their families and carers. We are delighted that our customers will now have the chance to plan with certainty into the future. With a phased transition, this also means the sector can finally focus on what matters most – optimising the quality of life for people living with disability.
As a member of Ability First Australia (AFA), a partnership that brings together 13 of Australia’s leading disability service providers, we hope we’ll be able to influence the direction of the NDIS long-term. AFA provides a collective national focus, enabling organisations across Australia to share best practice services and opportunities for innovation. We will continue to share our learnings from the state model and feedback from our customers to encourage and promote continuous improvement for people living with disability.
The National Disability Insurance Agency will assume responsibility for the delivery of the NDIS in WA from 1st July 2018.
Since 2014, our strategic focus has been on preparedness, so we are well prepared for the year ahead. Coupled with our experience transitioning families through trial sites, we are in a strong position and ready to support WA NDIS customers that will now transition to the NDIS next year.
Our Customer Engagement Team will be holding information sessions in the near future.
