Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists provide:
- Full physiotherapy assessment of individuals' needs.
- Regular re assessment or reviews to chart progress and ensure the most appropriate programs and services are in place.
- Physiotherapy recommended programs, which are changed as an individual's needs change.
- Individual block therapy sessions as negotiated.
- Information for families, carers and others about the condition and its effect on the physical abilities of the individual.
- Education of families, carers or others to enable them to carry out the physiotherapy recommended activities and to use prescribed equipment.
- Information to clients' families about funding for equipment.
- Information to school and community services about the individual's conditions and special requirements as appropriate to support the individual's participation and integration.
- Liaison with other service providers as appropriate to promote a coordinated approach to services.
- Attendance at specialist's appointments with the individual if appropriate.
Physiotherapists are also involved in:
- Consultancy
- Manual handling training, and
- Research
