Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists assist individuals to achieve their optimum level of independence and function in their daily life.
Occupational Therapy intervention may include:
Assessments for independence skills, seating requirements, use of adaptive technologies. Training for independence skills, use of adaptive technologies. Treatment of developmental difficulties including visual perceptual and visual motor problems. Prescription and modification of aids and equipment to assist with mobility, pressure care, transfers and activities of daily living.Design and/or modification of housing, workplaces and community facilities to maximise physical access and independent function for individuals. Provide information about the impact of the disability on independent functioning to individuals and family members. Liaison and consultation with relevant community agencies, school, workplaces on behalf of the individual to access resources, school curriculum and environment to meet individual needs.
