Volunteer Services
Volunteers work with staff, clients and families providing support incorporating all spheres of daily living. Volunteers work in Accommodation Services, Adult Services, Children's Services, In-home Respite, Community Access, Employment Services, Electric Wheelchair Sports, Fundraising and Transport. Volunteers may undertake a transport orientation course, which enables them to drive Rocky Bay vehicles. Attending training sessions relative to the specific needs of clients, eg. dysphagia management and/or handling and management, enables volunteers to feel comfortable in the support they offer clients.
Volunteers increase the opportunities clients have to achieve their goals by :
- Working alongside clients undertaking alternative to work options, cooking, creative arts and sports;
- Transporting and accompanying clients to TAFE and community leisure and recreation courses;
- Supervising routine exercise programs;
- Providing computer tutoring;
- Providing support in clients' homes;
- Playing games and engaging in a variety of leisure activities with clients;
- Accompanying clients on community outings, eg. shopping, movies, concerts, restaurants.
If you are interested in undertaking voluntary work at Rocky Bay please contact our Coordinator of Volunteers Services, Julie Green, on 9383 5195 or email volunteers@rockybay.org.au.
