For adults with disabilities who do not work on a full time basis, Rocky Bay offers support to participate in individual or group recreational, educational and personal development options.
Rocky Bay provides 'alternatives to employment' support for school leavers and other adults who are funded by the Disability Services Commission or purchase services privately.
The service is a streamlined needs approach to accommodate the various individuals who attend this program.
The service continues to be dynamic and innovative with project and technology development including computer courses, music and video production and small business opportunities.
Rocky Bay provides flexible and individualised programs, maximising opportunities for participation and inclusion. Clients are involved with ongoing planning to ensure program development is responsive to their needs.
Getabout offers a service to :
(a) School leavers that includes :
- a smooth transition from school;
- support to identify and achieve goals in the next stage of the young adults' life;
- a broad range of activities tailored to individual need that may include independent living skill sdevelopment, social and community skills, recreation and further learning.
(b) other adults who require support to engage in activities that are meaningful to the individual, such as: - participation in community and social activities;
- involvement in the arts and self expression;
- development of competencies in contemporary technology;
- physical fitness programs including swimming, sport and gymnasium activities;
- participation in tertiary adult and life skills education;
- outdoor adventure activities;
- personal growth and development.
- Rocky Bay's ability to meet individual needs and engage people in meaningful activities has made it a highly sought after program by school leavers and their families.
