In recent months, the Disability Services Commission, Rocky Bay and Therapy Focus have been working together to reorganise the way therapy services are delivered to school age children in the metropolitan area. This work has resulted in a new regional approach. This regional structure closely aligns with the Department of Education and Training boundaries of West Coast, Swan, Canning and Fremantle-Peel. This will enable Rocky Bay and Therapy Focus to further strengthen relationships with government, Catholic and independent schools in each region to promote the natural inclusion of all children in the classroom environment. Rocky Bay will service the Fremantle-Peel region.

An increase to the existing funding level to the service providers will also have the benefit of reducing the caseload size for therapists. Additionally, once the restructure is complete there will be a more equitable distribution of funding for the school age population across the metropolitan area.

The restructure is a two stage process with the first stage beginning at the start of the school year in 2007. Rocky Bay began servicing an additional 200 children of all disabilities in January. The second stage of transition will occur in January 2008 when Rocky Bay will add a further 350 children to out client base. This will take total numbers of children accessing therapy services from Rocky Bay to almost 1000 children.
